I am looking for the manufacturer of an end-of-arm vacuum gripper tool. The tool has 4 rows of 7 black rubber cups and the main body of the tool is blue, a simple rectangular design. It is not Coval or Schmalz. Does anyone know what the provider of this tool might be? Thanks in advance, Evin

We are looking for information on a vision guided Scara robot that will pick up small pieces of metal (.016" x .142" x .0015") and place them into a 2" x 2" tray. Each tray has approximately 315 recessed areas for each piece of metal. Metal parts are randomly placed on surface for pick up by the robot. Camera will guide robot, and allow robot to orientate the metal piece for correct placement into each recess of the tray. Thanks

We are moving several robots from one building to another 240 miles away. The current shop has been in production for 10 plus years. Production will stop and everything must move. Is there a new stet of standards that must be applied and do I need to update the old equipment to the new standards (if any)? Where do I get a road map to help in this move?

From the information given I cannot determine what you are specifically concerned about. I need to pull a cart weighing up to 1500 lbs, in a straight line for 200 feet at a rate of 1 inch per minute. I would like this unit to be small, DC voltage (battery), on/off switch, and variable speed gearing capable if needed. Do you know of any suitable products?

Isabelle Roberts, BRIC Engineered Systems
I have a robot to pick up material from conveyor. Without getting conveyor tracking software, is it possible to connect the encoder signals to the robot controller directly or through any other means in such a way that robot understands? Please help.
from Stäubli Robotics
Most robot controllers allow you to directly connect encoder inputs. Some times this does require an optional input card in the controller. It is also possible to connect the encoder to a device such as a PLC which the robot controller can then communicate with to get the data, but this is not as common as connecting the encoder directly to the robot controller.
from ABB Inc.
Typically the information for the robot to automatically offset the position requires some type of link to the motion planner internal to the robot. Most robots have the ability to offset a programmed point with values or a range of values but they usually are not “Dynamic” – meaning they keep updating in real-time unless some special hardware/software combination is enabled.
Can you give some more details of what you are trying to accomplish and with what sensors/tools are you trying to do it with? What kind of robot is it, how fast is the conveyor moving, does it change speed, and does it stop?

I need a 2 jaw robot gripper to pick and place a 20mm x 20mm x 30mm piece of aluminium. It will be fitted to a vs series denso six axis robot. Do I need to purchase a gripper that's made for the type of robot or can I make up an adapter for the gripper? Need for my final year project. Thanks for any help.

Kevin,
Are you required to use a 2-jaw gripper or can you pick using vacuum? If so, I can help you with the complete EOAT (End Of Arm Tool). Please call (919-233-4855) or email me if you want to use vacuum. Thanks-Matt

You should be able to make an adapter for the gripper you have. The robot tooling is generally "Generic" they may be operated by Air or electric solonoids, you will need to match the electrical and air requirements that are available with the interface and the signals on the arm.
Make sure the adapter you make doesn't push the gripper too far from the mounting plate, you need to make sure it is in the weight and moment of inertia capacities of that robot.
