San Jose, California - December 12, 2000 - Adept Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADTK), a leading manufacturer of flexible automation for the telecommunications, fiber optic and semiconductor industries, today announced it has received the Excellence in Manufacturing Award for Robotics from Machine Design magazine. This award honors manufacturers who provide components for the Original Equipment Market (OEM). Machine Design subscribers nominated outstanding vendors who they felt provided an innovative, highly productive, reliable, and cost-efficient product. Some of the categories include: adjustable-speed drives, ball screws, bearings, clutches/brakes, controllers, cylinders, electrical connectors/terminal blocks, fasteners, gears, machine-tool accessory components, CAD software, CAM software, fractional-horsepower motors, integral-horsepower motors, pumps, robotics, sensors, servo systems, slides/ways, switches and valves. 5000 randomly selected subscribers to Machine Design were asked to nominate vendors by responding to Machine Design's mail-in survey.
