One Cell System Seam Seals Car Bodies

Problem:
Challenge was to provide a one cell system to seam seal car bodies maintaining 80 jobs per hour at a total cycle time of 43.5 seconds.

Solution:
ABB Solution was to provide a one cell system consisting of two servo track-mounted robots to do selected interior seam spraying on the floor pan, and one overhead mounted robot to do roof ditch seams.  Four vision sensors mounted underneath the vehicle and three overhead are used to locate the vehicle.  Nordson Pro-Flo dispensing equipment was incorporated into the new system supplied by existing bulk supply.

Project responsibilities included throughput study, project management, training, engineering and installation supervision.
