FANUC Robotics Highlights the Benefits of Automating Green Technology During Solar Power International Show

FANUC America Corporation

LAKE FOREST, Cal., Oct. 13, 2008 – FANUC Robotics America Inc. will showcase its intelligent robotic solutions designed for the solar industry and other green technologies during Solar Power International 08, Oct. 13-16, in San Diego, Cal.  In a virtual exhibit, FANUC Robotics will highlight its wide range of products available to automate the production of solar panels.

“FANUC Robotics and our integration partners offer the most complete line of articulated robotic solutions that will maximize our customer’s flexibility and improve their bottom line,” said Rush LaSelle, general manager, FANUC Robotics West.

According to LaSelle, industrial robots are now used to automate a multitude of processes required throughout the entire supply chain in producing a solar panel. “Manufacturers of green technologies are looking for a common platform across a broad product line like that offered by FANUC Robotics to meet their production needs.”

FANUC Robotics has over 200 robot model variations with payload capabilities ranging from 2kg to 1,200kg.  In addition, the company offers simulation packages, application software, controls and integrated vision products.

“We are able to provide alternative energy manufacturers and suppliers a competitive advantage compared to manual processes, hard automation and offshore manufacturing,” added LaSelle.

FANUC Robotics provides the following key advantages to green technology manufacturers:

  • Reduced costs by eliminating costly and inflexible fixed automation
  • Quick production startup with proven robotic technologies to bring products to market faster
  • The ability to design to small batch sizes by using robots to process and transfer components and assemblies
  • Eliminate errors and scrap with integrated iRVision® for cost effective in-line process validation
  • Optimized overall system throughput with best-in-class speed and performance
  • Increased system uptime with unmatched reliability and support

“From brick, wafer and module lines for the solar industry, to carbon fiber lay-up and trimming for the wind energy, FANUC Robotics and our integration partners look at every step in the manufacturing process to optimize our customer’s operations,” said LaSelle.
