(ST. LOUIS) Intelligrated®, a leading North American-owned automated material handling solutions provider, kicked off a series of educational events at its St. Louis facility on Friday, April 13. The educational events commenced during National Robotics Week and focus on building interest in robotics engineering for both local and international students.
Intelligrated engineers hosted Washington University students on Friday. The visit included a tour of the company’s manufacturing operation and Alvey® Robotics Lab, a 5,050-square-foot research and development facility that focuses on concepting and applying new robotic innovations. After the tour, students were invited to join Intelligrated engineers for a luncheon and a series of demonstrations.
“As our company grows, so does the demand for robotics engineers,” said Steve Ackerman, executive vice president, Intelligrated. “We plan to continue to open our facilities for educational purposes and we hope to spark interest for robotics in students of all ages.”
Intelligrated will continue to host students throughout April, welcoming a group of students from the Netherlands later this month. The visit offers a tour of the company’s robotics lab, as well as an opportunity to interact with Intelligrated engineers. The electromechanic and industrial automation students are visiting the United States for the St. Louis “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” (FIRST) Championship.
Intelligrated strongly supports the goals of the FIRST Championship, inspiring youths to become leaders in science and technology through hands-on, team-based robotics challenges. The FIRST Championship combines the Tech Challenge World Championship, the FIRST LEGO League World Festival, and the Jr. FIRST LEGO League World Festival for the ultimate Sport for the Mind. The event will be held April 25-28 at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.
