Lincoln Electric’s John M. Stropki, Chairman, President and CEO, to Discuss the State of the Welding Industry at 2011 FABTECH International Show

Lincoln Electric experts will dominate the speaking platforms at the 2011 FABTECH International Show, which runs from Nov. 14 – 17, at McCormick Place in Chicago. The company’s products will also be showcased in special FABTECH Theater presentations.
During the show, John M. Stropki, Lincoln Electric’s chairman, president and CEO; Bruce Chantry, portfolio manager, welding equipment; and Joe Daniel, manager of machine technology R&D, who have a combined total of more than 73 years of welding industry experience, will share their knowledge with FABTECH visitors during their presentations.
Stropki, along with three other panelists, will present “State of the Industry: Executive Outlook” on Mon., Nov. 14, from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the FABTECH Theater on the Grand Concourse. The panelists will discuss the current state of the welding industry, along with some of the following issues:
- Insights on customer needs
- Adapting to work force issues
- What’s changing in their business
- Future technologies
Stropki’s experience in the welding industry began at Lincoln Electric during his summer breaks from college at Purdue University, where he studied engineering. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering and holds an MBA from Indiana University. He worked his way up Lincoln Electric’s corporate ladder and was elected chairman, president and chief executive officer in 2004.
Throughout his journey with Lincoln Electric, Stropki has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the fields of welding and engineering. He is a recipient of Purdue University's 1998 "Outstanding Industrial Engineer" award, and is an honorary member of the American Welding Society. He serves on the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI Presidents Council, and is a member of the Gas and Welding Distributors Association.

Chantry and Daniel will present at the full-day “What’s New in Power Sources” conference program on Wed., Nov. 16, from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Chantry’s discussion is on new developments in welding Production Monitoring™ solutions, while Daniel will cover important information on the WeldScore™ weld quality evaluation system.
Chantry has been with Lincoln Electric for more than 15 years, most recently as portfolio manager, welding equipment. Earlier, he completed a six-year assignment as regional manager for the company’s Sub-Saharan Africa region, where he significantly grew the business and helped establish Lincoln Electric’s presence as an industry leader. Chantry has also served in Lincoln Electric’s Moline, Ill., and Grand Rapids, Mich., sales offices. He holds a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from The Colorado School of Mines and completed Lincoln Electric’s International Business Development (IBD) program.
Daniel is the manager of machine technology R&D at Lincoln Electric and has been with the company for more than 20 years. He holds a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from DeVry University.
Additionally, two Lincoln technical experts will showcase new product technology in the FABTECH Theater during special 30-minute presentations.
• Paul Denney, Lincoln Electric Automation Division laser materials processing expert, will discuss “Hot Wire Laser Processing,” a new approach to depositing material that combines the use of traditional power sources with lasers on Tues., Nov. 15, 12:45 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
• Jeff Bennett, managing director, VERNON Tool™, will demonstrate the easy-to-use VERNON Tool™ Razor™ – Automated Plasma Tube Cutting Machine, in a presentation entitled, “A Revolution in Tube Fabrication – Automated Plasma Tube Cutting and Profiling,” on Wed., Nov. 16, 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
