New Robot – New Possibilities from Staubli

Stäubli Robotics

Stäubli Robotics celebrated a true world premier at the FAKUMA 2012 trade fair in Friedrichshafen / Germany. The manufacturer extends their product range with the brand new TX340 SH shelf-mounted robot, Stäubli’s first robot of this kind. The aim of this kinematic is to fulfill every last wish of the customers in the plastics processing industry to the optimum.

Over the past years, Stäubli has been reacting positively to the requirements of plastics processors and have created a tailor made product range in the plastics robot series developed in close collaboration with users. "Our new shelf-mounted robot TX340 SH now closes the last gap in our robot range so that the ideal machine for every task in the plastics sector is available as of now. But the six-axis robot is also first choice for tasks outside of the plastics sector – for deployment on pressure die-casting machines or machine tools, for example", explains Dipl.-Ing. Manfred Hübschmann, Managing Director, Stäubli Robotics Deutschland.

A quick look in the datasheet emphasizes just how powerful this new machine is. It's the payload and reach factors above all that arouse interest. The six-axis robot can handle a respectable 165 kilograms and that's at a remarkable reach of 3,680 millimeters. At the same time, this fast machine maintainsa very precise repeat accuracy of +/- 0.1 millimeter over its entire working range. To pass muster reliably in raw industrial environments, the shelf robot is designed to protection class IP65.

Moreover, the TX340 SH also wins points for its "inner" values where it scores with consistent lightweight design and energy efficient operation. This consistent pursuit of weight reduction can even be seen in the robot structure above axis 1: here the designers have created openings in the areas not relevant to rigidity in order to save on material and weight. These measures also benefit the cycle times which are further improved by this reduction in mass. In conjunction with the Stäubli CS8C controller, over which all the other manufacturer's kinematics run, the result is a particularly economical and sustainable robot operation.

"On specific applications, our new shelf robot brings with it significant advantages in terms of reach and flexibility. Furthermore, this kinematic saves on expensive production space. And, of course, we have made the integration of the machine as simple as possible for our users by using industry standard interfaces", says a delighted Manfred Hübschmann.
