Siemens White Paper on Networked Machine Safety is Timely and Informative

Robotic Industries Association

Siemens Industry, Inc., one of RIA's member companies, has released a new white paper that examines the role of safety PLCs and networks in light of new and various standards. Siemens’ white paper, "Concepts in implementing a networked machine safety system,” is available from Robotics Online in PDF format now.

Siemens’ white paper, ". . . shows how safety related control functions using Safety PLCs and networks, can be combined to provide numerous cost-savings and increased productivity benefits to the users." Among the issues addressed is the role of standards including the newest editions of ISO 10218.

RIA provided modest input for the white paper and is honored to have the result of those collaborations hosted on Robotics Online. RIA urges robotics and automation users to seek training and instruction on compliance with all safety standards. The Association recommends training at the National Robot Safety Conference, September 19-21, 2011, or through custom training with RIA instructors.

RIA claims no endorsement, implied or otherwise, for this white paper. Contact Siemens for training options they provide. Click here to access the free white paper.
