PIAB Opens Subsidiary in India to Ensure Optimal Product and Service Support for the Growing Demand of Vacuum Technology
PIAB USA, Inc. Posted 04/27/2009
Täby, Sweden – April 24, 2009 – To meet the growing demand for innovative product handling and conveying technology, PIAB, a global leader in vacuum technology, announces that it will open its 18th subsidiary in Chennai, India. The new subsidiary, PIAB Vacuum Technology Pte Ltd, will support distribution networks and provide training and technical support for distributors and customers. Operations at the new office will officially begin in June.
PIAB has served Indian customers through distributors for more than 15 years. Growth in manufacturing in the region has led to mushrooming demand for PIAB’s unique vacuum solutions, which provide energy-efficiency and productivity benefits, leading to the decision to open an office in India.
PIAB’s Chennai subsidiary will primarily service chemical, pharmaceutical and automotive companies, providing automation solutions for automotive manufacturers and vacuum conveying solutions for food, pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturers. The new office will also work closely with the current distribution network to provide the Indian market with access to PIAB’s entire product portfolio for the consumer food, packaging, printing, electronics and woodworking industries.
Mr. Jayaparkash Veluchamy will leave PIAB Singapore to assume the leadership role at PIAB’s Chennai subsidiary.
“PIAB has seen a steady increase in demand throughout emerging markets such as China, India and Latin America,” said Per-Erik Lindquist, Chief Executive Officer, PIAB. “To meet this demand, PIAB has expanded its presence within these regions. We already have a strong presence in both China and Latin America. As we expect India to achieve 20 percent growth in sales in the next five years, it made sense to establish a local office so we can better serve customers and distributors.”
“We are excited to see such strong growth in the Asia Pacific region,” said Allan Tee, Regional Director of Asia Pacific, PIAB. “In particular, we are expecting growing demand in China, India and Southeast Asia and look forward to working with our customers to help them improve the efficiency of their operations.”
Established in 1951, PIAB designs innovative vacuum solutions that improve the energy-efficiency, productivity, and working environments of vacuum users around the world. As a reliable partner to many of the world’s largest manufacturers, PIAB develops and manufactures a complete line of vacuum pumps, vacuum accessories, vacuum conveyors and suction cups for a variety of automated material handling and factory automation processes.
