Krupp Polysius (Germany): RX Robots in Laboratory Automation; Sample Preparation and Analysis.
Faverges (France) - KRUPP POLYSIUS is one of the leading engineering companies worldwide for the equipment of cement, lime and plaster industries. Out-standing concepts, proven competence in solution proposals, and the efficiency and respect of project development deadlines, make KRUPP POLYSIUS internationally renowned as a privileged partner in the sector.
In line with several future-oriented products, KRUPP POLYSIUS proposes with Polab-AMT (Advanced Module Technology), an automatic laboratory system. This system offers on a 7,5m2 ground surface, in one station, complete technology for custom designed sample preparation and analysis. In order to increase its success in this market, KRUPP POLYSIUS looked for a high-performance robot to integrate in this cell.
The RX60 L robot demonstrates major advantages such as high reliability and reduced maintenance. Furthermore, its strong closed structure and absolute calibration, together with its compact footprint have also contributed to KRUPP POLYSIUS' choice. During each step of the process, the samples are automatically removed and brought by a pneumatic transport system to the automatic laboratory. In the robot work envelope, sample preparation units such as the milling, analysis, binder, press and cleaning modules are integrated with various analyzers mounted in a cabinet.
The 6-axis robot directly supplies the analyzer measuring heads with previously prepared samples, contributing to the analysis process by carrying out all the necessary pick & place operations demanding 200 different program cycles. After the end of the analysis process, the data is transferred to the laboratory computer which compiles and compares it with the reference data, and acts directly on the control of the production process. Presently, KRUPP POLYSIUS has just launched this automatic system and has already received 6 orders for the Polab-AMT with RX60 L robots. Additional projects are also under development.
