Stäubli Robotics Reaffirms Its Commitment to Area Schools

Stäubli Robotics

DUNCAN, SC – Over the years Stäubli’s Robotics Division in Duncan, SC has been a loyal supporter of education in South Carolina, donating funds as well as robots. “Stäubli has a long history of supporting the local community through economic development efforts and providing equipment to educational institutions,” said Operations Manager, David Arceneaux. “Providing this technology can be instrumental in the economic development of the region and its workforce, reinforcing the Stäubli commitment to helping build tomorrow’s leaders.”
Most recently Stäubli donated a TX40 arm, CS8C controller and SP1 teach pendant to The University of South Carolina Upstate in Greenville, SC. The company has donated equipment to USC Upstate, including robotic arms and controllers, regularly since 2002. Stäubli will also sponsor USC Upstate’s Undergraduate Research Journal this year, as it has every year since 2008. The Journal features articles on research projects involving USC Upstate students, and is distributed to high schools as well as business and community leaders throughout the region.
Earlier this year Stäubli donated robots to Greenville Technical College as well as Clemson University, both located in Greenville, SC. Greenville Tech was the beneficiary of an RS40B robot arm, CS8C controller and SP1 teach pendant, providing students hands-on experience with automated controls and robotic manufacturing in the Brashier Campus Mechatronics Lab.
Likewise students in Clemson University’s automotive engineering program benefit from Stäubli’s 2011 donation of a robot, now installed in the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR). “The robot will allow students to develop and test control schemes that could be used on automotive production lines,” said Mohammed Omar, Coordinator of the Automotive Engineering Graduate Program.
Stäubli is also a community partner of Spartanburg Day School (SDS), a private K-12 school in Spartanburg, SC. Students have the opportunity to visit Stäubli’s manufacturing facility for hands-on education as part of a mentorship program. In addition, Stäubli has donated a robotic system to enhance the school’s robotics program. Once the arm is installed later this year, SDS’s robotics lab will be named the “Stäubli Robotics Lab.”
"Stäubli is proud to provide state-of-the-art robots for these endeavors and other collaboration activities to reinforce our relationship between our organizations and solidify our ongoing commitment to advancing technologies,” said Joe Gemma, Stäubli Robotics Division Manager.
