ML20 Markless Sensor
SICK, Inc. Posted 03/05/2013SICK, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems, machine vision, and automatic identification products for factory and logistics automation, today announced the launch of the ML20 Markless sensor. The ML20 uses a new technology based on pattern recognition that detects the cutting position for label applications without the use of print marks or place markers. Ideal for roll-fed labeling machines, the ML20 controls the label cutting process by enabling more flexibility in package designs and minimizing label material waste.
Used for web film control in bottling and labeling machines, the ML20 combines accurate positioning with high-speed web detection. The ML20 has sensing speeds up to 7 m/s and an accuracy of up to 0.6 mm. In addition, the IP 65-rated ML20 improves processes when multiple film changes are required by OEMs and end users. Programming the ML20 can be accomplished through SOPAS software, the sensor on-board control panel or “teach-in” process.
