Stäubli Unveils TX340 SH Shelf Robot

Stäubli Robotics

Stäubli Robotics has extended its product range with the introduction of the TX340 SH shelf robot. This kinematics solution has been designed to plug any remaining gaps in customer specification for plastics processing in the automotive industry.

Over the years, Stäubli has listened attentively to feedback from customers and responded by creating a range of products tailored to sector-specific needs – the Plastics robot series developed in close collaboration with actual users.

TX340 SH Shelf RobotManfred Hübschmann, Managing Director Stäubli Robotics Germany: “With our new TX340 SH shelf robot, we are plugging the last remaining gap in our robot portfolio so that there will now be the optimum machine available for every conceivable job in the plastics industry. But the six-axis model will also be the robot of choice for other applications, for example in combination with die casting and toolmaking plant.”
A quick look at the data sheet points up just how powerful the new machine is, with loading capacity and range immediately catching the attention. The six-axis robot can handle a mighty 165 kilos without compromising on reach – a full 3.68 metres. And yet the nimble six-axis robot maintains a very precise repeatability of ± 0.1 mm over its entire working range. The shelf robot has been designed to IP65 ingress protection standard for use in harsh industrial environments.

Moreover, the TX340 SH also scores respectably on ‘internal’ criteria – because of the systematic use of lightweight construction techniques, it meets the most exacting standards of energy efficiency. The resolute pursuit of weight reduction is also reflected in the structure of the robot on Axis 1. Here the designers have made radical changes in areas that are not critical for rigidity in order to save on material and weight. This has also brought about benefits in terms of cycle times which have speeded up as a consequence of lower mass. Together with the innovative Stäubli CS8C controller which also manages all the other manufacturer kinematics, this results in exceptionally economical and sustainable robotics.
Manfred Hübschmann: “For certain applications, our new shelf robot brings significant advantages, particularly in terms of range and flexibility. Furthermore, this kinematics solution enables us to save on expensive production square footage. And of course, we have used industry-standard interfaces to make it as easy as possible for our users to integrate the machine.”
