The new CMT Advanced technology offers a 60% improvement in deposition rate, even better gap bridgeability and very low welding emissions. It is the first time welding current polarity changing and reversal of the wire movement has been incorporated into process control, broadening the range of processes for joining light and ultra light-gauge sheet. While the reversing wire movement is undoubtedly the most impressive of the features offered by the Cold Metal Transfer process, it does not end there. CMT Advanced offers the option of combining the reversing wire movement with polarity change. The benefits speak for themselves: * Reduced thermal load on the base material * Larger gap tolerances can be bridged * Reduced dilution when cladding The number of positively and negatively polarized cycles can be adjusted for each application, which means the customer can be assured of the best seam quality. In conventional AC/MIG processes, the pole change occurs during the arc burn phase (the 'ground current phase') and, as a result, arc fluctuations are inevitable. CMT Advanced does things differently: the pole change takes place in the short-circuit phase, preventing instability in the arc. The CMT Advanced process also allows a combination of negatively polarized CMT cycles and positively polarized pulse cycles. In this case too, the pole change occurs during the short-circuit phase, ensuring a stable, spatter-free arcing process. Combining the reversing wire movement with polarity change means that - both for the CMT Advanced and CMT Advanced Pulse processes - the deposition rate is increased by up to 60% compared to conventional processes. There is no need for the user to enter complicated settings, control takes place using the tried and tested synergic characteristics and one-button operation on the RCU 5000.
