Motoman’s new Simple Education System (SES) is a PC-based training simulator that allows customers to learn to operate and program Motoman robots in the virtual world while keeping their actual robots in production. Students can take IACET fully accredited Operator, Basic Programming, Advanced Programming and Ladder Programming courses for the NX100 robot controller – at a convenient time and location. Using the SES units, any conference room at the customer’s site or local meeting center can be used as a classroom for virtual robot training. Companies can minimize travel costs and train up to 12 people at a time (two students per SES). The SES consists of a robust, self-contained controller, laptop computer and standard robot programming pendant. The learning experience is enhanced, since students use an actual teach pendant to program the virtual robots the exact same way they would program actual robots. Transferring their virtual robot experience into the manufacturing environment is easy. Designed to fit under a desk or conference table, the portable SES units are approximately 19” L x 14” W x 21” H. Wheels allow the 55-lb SES units to be moved easily. SES units run on standard 110-V AC power. Each SES unit also includes an I/O device, enabling students to learn how to communicate with external devices such as positioners, conveyors, machine tools and other peripherals.
