Sandia is a multiprogram National Laboratory operated by Sandia Corporation, a Lockheed Martin Company, for the United States Department of Energy. With many years of experience and hundreds of successful projects in designing, developing, and delivering complex micro- to macro-sized automated systems, Sandia’s Intelligent Systems, Robotics, and Cybernetics (ISRC) organization responds to challenges impacting national security and US economic competitiveness.
The Lockheed Martin Corp. has managed Sandia since Oct. 1, 1993, for the U.S. Department of Energy. Most of Sandia’s work is sponsored by DOE’s National Nuclear Security Administration, but we also work for other federal agencies, including the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and others. We work cooperatively with a number of government, U.S. industry, and academic partners to accomplish our missions.
Systems developed by Sandia's Intelligent Systems and Robotics Center (ISRC) often require precise control of the forces applied.
Cooperating squads of robotic vehicles may some day be employed for tasks such as fighting forest fires, cleaning up oil spills, delivering and distributing supplies to remote field operations and conducting a variety of military missions.
In response to the Department of Defense's Joint Program Office for Unmanned Ground Vehicles' request to develop a prototype of a mobile robotic test bed platform for military surveillance and reconnaissance missions, Sandia's Intelligent Systems and Robotics Center (ISRC) developed SARGE (the Surveillance And Reconnaissance Ground Equipment robot).
When conditions are too dangerous for people after mine disasters, robots can go safely where people cannot to locate survivors, check the atmosphere, or assess the condition of the mine.
Sandia National Laboratories' Intelligent Systems and Robotics Center (ISRC) has developed the RATLER™ ("Robotic All Terrain Lunar Exploration Rover") vehicles to fulfill a wide variety of functions.
Sandia's Intelligent Systems and Robotics Center (ISRC) has proven its capability to develop and deploy automated inspection stations.
Manufacturing companies throughout the world are rapidly changing in order to survive in today's highly competitive market environments.
The US Army is responsible for coordinating munition demilitarization for all the Services.
Many of the thousands of nuclear weapons which are being retired by the United States contain components known as explosive gas generators.
