Robotic Materials Tackles Mobile Manipulation in Manufacturing
Robotic Materials Inc. Posted 03/06/2020
Today, Robotic Materials Inc. has implemented the first factory application of autonomous robotic AI. Joel Cornuet, VP of Manufacturing at Image Projection West, a remanufacturer of toner cartridges producing more than 240,000 toner cartridges annually, reports an immediate efficiency gain of 3% in manufacturing output together with considerable time saving for his more than 50 workers. “Setting the robot up is as simple as using an iPhone. Not only do workers save a lot of time when the robot is moving our components, but automatic loading and unloading will improve efficiency even further”, says he. Beginning in Spring 2020, RM Inc. will continue development of robotic AI in several industries beyond general manufacturing including aerospace, automotive and pharmaceutical manufacturing, extending their mobile solution to pick items directly from bins, on and off shelves and even perform simple assembly. RM Inc. is an independent robotics AI developer based in Boulder, CO, who has raised more than $1.5M from private investors, the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
