Phoenix Contact Announces Fall Training Classes

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Phoenix Contact announces its schedule of training classes for the fall.All classes combine theory with hands-on exercises so students are prepared to apply the lessons in real-world situations.
The following classes are hosted at Phoenix Contact USA’s headquarters, 586 Fulling Mill Road, Middletown, Pa., 17057:
Automation Week (September 19-23):
- HMI - September 19, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Students will get a product overview of PC/HMI, embedded controllers, PC Worx and Nanoline control, hands-on labs with Steeplechase VLC 7, Iconics or PC Worx, utilizing tools to apply and present Phoenix Contact’s PC and embedded control products.
- Modular I/O - September 19, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – This class consists of an IP20 product overview, hands-on exercises using industrial Ethernet I/O components, and an overview of IP67 and Bluetooth® products.
- Ethernet - September 20-21 – This session will explain the history of Ethernet; differentiate between the ISO-OSI layers; identify different topologies and protocols; restate the difference between managed and unmanaged switches; demonstrate spanning tree redundancy and utilize various control device interfaces.
- Advanced Network Security - September 22-23 – The class reviews basic routing concepts and different types of firewalls. It also includes an overview of VPN technology, mGuard application scenarios and hands-on labs.
Wireless Technology (September 27-28): This class describes and compares different industrial wireless technologies, such as Trusted Wireless, Bluetooth and 802.11 Wi-Fi®. Students will learn to apply these technologies to specific applications.
Safety Technology (November 17-18): This class will explain machine safety technology and relate this safety knowledge to international and U.S. standards, and illustrate basic e-stop, safety door and interlock safety circuits.
