As the Sales & Business Development Manager your primary responsibility is to lead, manage, train and develop our sales team. You will strategically implement a plan to meet short term and long term company goals for growth and profitability of all sales areas.  You know that the perfect blend of technical knowledge and people skills can lead to incredible success.

Title:  Sales & Business Development Manager, North America
Reports To: President of the company
Direct Reports: Up to 15 employees
Travel: Up to 50% of the time

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to deliver on company goals
  • Plan, develop, and execute channel-specific strategic sales plans to drive growth, customer development and retention
  • Recruit, develop and train inside sales, regional sales managers, sales representatives and distributors
  • Establish and execute sales quotas, territories and goals for all sales channels
  • Develop and execute target customer program while maintaining key customer relationships
  • Confers with and travels to customers, prospects, target accounts and sales partners to maintain and improve relationships and to secure business
  • Provide leadership, direction and education to the sales team
  • Establish performance measurements, track performance against those measurements and provide constructive feedback
  • Perform all personnel management activities for sales staff, including: recruitment, training, performance evaluation and salary management; encourage professional development through job assignments, mentoring and training
  • Create high-performing, energized and "fun at work" sales team culture, emphasizing reward and recognition
  • Implement structured, documented and efficient workflow processes to drive continuous improvement across all sales team functions
  • Communicate changes in product, processes, policies and/or procedures in a clear, concise and expedient manner throughout the sales organization
  • Coordinate between sales department and other departments to ensure effective customer service and delivery of products and services
  • Collaborates with marketing department to develop promotions and other advertising activities
  • Travel to trade shows to make contacts and demonstrate our products

Positional Requirements:

  • Experience developing / executing a multi-channel sales strategy
  • Must have a US passport for foreign and domestic travel
  • Ability to be based out of our Bloomfield, CT headquarters

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business
  • 10 or more years of industrial automation or capital equipment sales with a proven track record
  • 5 or more years of leading and managing a sales team
