Description

The Corporate Accounting Manager is responsible for the worldwide consolidation and financial reporting of PaR Systems. This position is directly accountable for the monthly closing, internal cost allocation process and the preparation and timely submission and analysis of the financial reporting packages and working with the team to maintain effective internal controls. As a direct report to the Director of Accounting & Finance, the Corporate Accounting Manager should be able to use independent judgement in resolving issues, work independently and strive to complete prescribed tasks timely from the qualitative and quantitative perspective with moderate supervision.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  1. General Accounting
    1. Manage all accounting activities, including maintenance of integrity of financial data and controls; direct monthly, quarterly and year-end closings to ensure financial statements are correct, accurate and timely delivered
    2. Ownership of financial books and records; maintain general ledger and sub-ledgers ensuring correct account postings; prepare, review and approve all journal entries, accruals, reserves and account reconciliations
    3. Perform timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual closing of financials in accordance with GAAP and other international standards where applicable
    4. Prepare and maintain Profit and Loss Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement
    5. Assist in creating policies and procedures and provide accounting guidance while instituting best practices
    6. Continuous coordination of shared services (i.e. A/P, Payroll, etc.) to ensure proper accounting treatment of invoices and labor related cost
    7. Assist in compliance efforts: respond to international and external audit requirements, tax audits, insurance data requests, among others
    8. Supervise system set-up and sub ledger creation to track project / event driven costs.
    9. Continuous process improvement to increase effectiveness and efficiency of accounting department
    10. Advise staff regarding the handling of routine and non-routine reporting transactions
  2. Account reconciliations, activity analysis, and other reporting
    1. Ensure timely and accurate completion of Balance Sheet G/L account reconciliations and adequacy of supporting documentation
    2. Preparation of selected financial data for insurance renewal purposes
    3. Preparation of monthly/quarterly sales and property tax reporting & filings
    4. Review and assess accounting reserves
  3. Other activities
    1. Perform ad hoc projects as requested

Minimum Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge and application of business systems (integrated ERP and Business Intelligence tools experience such as Oracle, COGNOS and Hyperion)
  • Demonstrated understanding of percent complete revenue recognition, cost (job/project) accounting and government contracting/federal CAS requirements
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills, including merger/acquisition experience
  • Track record of successful leadership, including team building, coaching and mentoring
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills -- demonstrated ability to discuss a variety of job-related topics and to communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences effectively
  • Discipline of planning, organizing and managing resources to bring about successful completion of specific goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated independence and objectivity; executive-level interpersonal skills, integrity, flexibility
  • Ability to build trust and solid relationships while driving accountability with all key stakeholders
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)

 

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting.
  • 10+ years of experience, with 3+ years in a position equivalent to accounting manager or higher role with comparable leadership responsibilities (global, manufacturing, and project experience preferred)
  • CPA preferred
