Vecna Robotics seeks a senior systems test engineer to develop and perform various tests that can reliably validate new robotic system and component level releases, as well as validate new system requirements over time.  The ideal candidate will have a background in multiple engineering disciplines, a good knowledge of software testing tools, and can think outside the box.  You will help design, test, integrate, and maintain validation tests and testing techniques for Vecna’s various robotic systems.  You are a team player who is excited to solve challenging problems in a dynamic industry.  You will join a diverse team that is dedicated to making a real-world impact, using advanced, creative technologies.  This is a full-time, salaried position. 

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and perform ongoing performance testing and requirements validation for Vecna Robotic’s robotic systems based on acceptance criteria, and lead the design and development for any new testing capabilities
  • Evaluate components and subsystems comprised of hardware and software elements to ensure their readiness for system-level integration and testing
  • Validate and maintain safety system requirements
  • Source and design testing equipment, and develop code for test equipment with collaboration between engineering teams when necessary
  • Collaborate with and lead cross matrix teams in planning, developing, and carrying out validation activities
  • Coordinate with external testing houses and maintain certification documentation (experience with CE and UL preferred)
  • Identify problems and document root cause findings that allow engineering teams to correct and improve upon those systems
  • Organize and summarize test setups, data, statistical analysis, and results in written reports
  • Follow emerging technologies and keeping up to date with new testing frameworks that allow for improved testing capabilities
  • Able to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years related industry experience with an BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or relevant engineering degree; MS preferred
  • Hands-on and comfortable with the Linux command line, ROS (Robot Operating System), data acquisition tools, basic mechanical design, electronics, and writing code (C++, Python, or Java)
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence for test status and test report management
  • Strong analytical reasoning, organizational, documentation, and communication skills
  • Adept at clearly summarizing and presenting complex test data and status updates
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a willingness to adapt to change
  • An enthusiastic collaborator willing to operate outside your area of direct expertise to solve hard problems with the rest of our cross-disciplinary team
