Position Summary

The Electro Mechanical Robotics Engineer’s primary responsibility to provide mechanical design service, electrical design service and support for the highly technical products sold by Sure Controls.  These include EOAT (End of Arm Tool) robotic designs, electromechanical cell designs, programming and mechanical design support for customers and design projects as required.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform design and development of mechanical systems used in customer solutions
  • Perform technical support for customer calls related to motion and thermodynamic systems
  • Develop PLC, robotic systems, vision systems, drive systems, and HMI systems in the design of mechanical solutions
  • Responsible for working with the project estimator to ensure we have accurate estimates in hours and material cost for mechanical concepts and designs
  • Complete technical feasibility studies as required to ensure we are technically confident we can deliver a smile to the customer
  • Manage assigned project(s) from definition to installation and customer acceptance.
    • Maintain cost and schedule tracking of projects against quoted price and delivery
    • Develop and maintain project milestones, parts lists and ordering, and SolidWorks prints
    • Provide communication to customers, panel shop employees, the salesperson, and other team members
    • Lead and/or support start-up of systems in the shop and at the customer site
  • Provide troubleshooting, service and start-up support for jobs including mechanical design including robotic cells, mechanical fixturing solutions, vision, and additional technologies as required
  • Lead development in Electro Mechanical Design Best Practices for Sure Controls
  • Consistent delivery of a positive customer experience as evident through customer request for your specific service and continued service by scheduled service team members

Required Skills and Competencies

  • College Degree, Associate Degree or High school diploma; 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Interpretation of Written Information
  • Decision Making – Gathering facts, analysis and producing a final choice
  • Problem Solving – Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully, develops alternative solutions and works well individually and in group problem solving situations
  • The Electro Mechanical Robotics Engineer should have, or develop, a proficiency in:
    • Solid Works and the suite of equipment supported by Sure Controls (Parker Hannifin, Omron, Precise, Asyril, Mecademic, etc.)
    • Mechanical design software packages
    • PLC and custom code programming
    • Visual Basic, C++, and E-Plan electrical schematic development

Other Requirements

  • This position does require you to travel up to 20% of the time, but most of that will be regional
  • May be required to work hours outside of the typical 7:30-4:30 day.
  • Shared on-call duty for weekends (2-3x per year)
  • Sometimes the customer sites can be loud
  • We close at 2:30pm on Friday to enjoy time with friends and family on the weekend
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Climb ladders and stairs.  Work from heights.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications and an understanding of AutoCAD
