8:45 am - 9:15 am
Understanding the Basics of AMR Technology: What You Need to Know
Melonee Wise, CEO, Fetch Robotics
Curious about introducing robotic automation but not sure where to start? Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) have emerged over the past few years as a smart, flexible and affordable approach to incorporating robots in the workplace. But, what is the best robotic automation for you, how does it work and why should you care? Fetch Robotics CEO Melonee Wise will give an in-depth overview of the inner workings of AMRs so that the audience can learn how and why AMRs work and why such technical advances as obstacle avoidance, localization, and SLAM are important to understand before adopting them.

The Piece Picking Challenge
Karen Leavitt, Chief Marketing Officer, Locus Robotics
A multi-bot solution incorporates powerful and intelligent autonomous mobile robots that operate collaboratively with human workers to dramatically improve piece-handling productivity up to 3X, with less walking and faster returns than traditional cart and follow-bot picking systems.

Microlocation: Foundational Technology for the Next Generation Warehouse
David Mindell, CEO, President, & Co-founder, Humatics
Your warehouse itself is a robot with digital, automated elements, people, assets and vehicles that are ever-evolving and adaptive to market changes and customer demands. However, operational efficiency relies on one thing: visibility. If facility managers cannot see what is happening in their facility, they lack the tools to optimize material flow and operations effectively. The solution to enabling the next generation warehouse is microlocation. Learn about what microlocation is and how to leverage it in your facility.

Autonomous Robots in the Real World
Pablo Molina, CTO and Co-founder, AvidBots
Collaborative robots that work alongside humans to complete dull, dirty, or dangerous tasks are on the rise, but they'll only reach wide-scale deployment if they can truly solve problems safely and efficiently. Cobots must navigate safely around people and objects in busy areas such as factories, offices, airports, warehouses, hospitals, and schools. In this session, learn about some of the newest approaches at obstacle detection as well as safety standards in development that will help bring service robots into the real world.

Robotics engineer Pablo Molina, CTO, VP of product, and co-founder of Avidbots, maker of the Neo autonomous floor-cleaning robot, will discuss the new safety standards and technologies necessary for wide-scale adoption of service robots. Pablo is part of a team developing a new safety standard for self-driving floor scrubbers (IEC 60335-2-117) that is the one of the first Type-C standards for robots in the real world. In addition to functional safety, robots need to be able to detect complex obstacles in warehouse locations. For example, Pablo will discuss how robots in warehouses are using advanced sensors and AI to detect the smallest possible obstacles--such as the forks of a forklift hovering a few inches above ground. Come learn what safety features are being used by the most advanced service robots and what it will take to make robots so safe that it's commonplace to see them working among human counterparts.
